    SAHUARITA, AZ - The teen cyclist hit by a vehicle near Sahuarita earlier this week has died, according to city police. The Sahuarita Police Department said Mason Taylor, 15, was declared dead by hospital staff early in the morning Thursday, July 5. Mason's family told the SPD they have received "numerous unwanted phone calls" and requested privacy at this time.

    SAHUARITA, AZ - A 15-year-old riding a bicycle was hit and injured by a vehicle on Tuesday morning on Old Nogales Highway just north of Quail Crossing Boulevard, according to the Sahuarita Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the scene at 8:02 a.m. and found the teen was severely injured.

    SAHUARITA, AZ - Facial recognition software and specialized training helped detectives with the Arizona Department of Transportation find a Sahuarita resident who had an outstanding FBI felony warrant. According to an ADOT news release, Sandro Tentory was found thanks to the ADOT facial recognition system, when it alerted to two profiles in the system with different names and dates of birth, but identical photos of the same person.

The Sahuarita Sun said William and Victoria Cornett were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and recklessly handling or displaying a weapon. A Sahuarita Police Department spokesman told the newspaper people walking in the rally said a truck passed them twice and the driver and passenger took turns pointing a rifle at them.

    SAHUARITA, AZ - An off-duty Border Patrol agent was cited for a hit-and-run collision after he drove away from a crash scene, allegedly trying to hide an affair with another man. According to a Sahuarita Police Department report, 30-year-old Ellis McKenzie-Morales was arrested, cited, and released by officers for his involvement in a crash March 1. Two cars collided at the intersection of Duval Mine Road and Alpha Avenue in Sahuarita around 3:20 p.m. The victim told officers that she was rear ended by the suspect's vehicle, later identified as McKenzie-Morales.

Before police and the animal control officer arrived at the scene it was reported that two large Siberian Husky breed dogs had jumped into several backyards, attacking and killing two smaller dogs and a cat, according to a SPD news release.

According to SPD there were two different crashes that occurred in the intersection of Sahuarita Road and Nogales Highway. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
