    A student was found to possess an Airsoft pellet gun on Friday morning at Sackets Harbor High School, Superintendent Frederick E. Hall Jr. said, adding the weapon was found in the car on campus before school had started. Mr. Hall said the district received information that the 17- year-old male student might have the pellet gun at school and acted quickly to retrieve the weapon.

    Village Mayor Vincent J. Battista III removed beer from the shelves of his convenience store last month because the state Liquor Authority has charged him with failing to notify the agency when his corporation for the business dissolved in April 2012 because of back taxes owed. The Liquor Authority board - which has not yet ruled on the charge - received a complaint in December 2013 about the dissolution of Sackets Harbor Country Mart Inc. at 240 Dodge Ave., at which time Mr. Battista should have notified the authority to have his beer license revoked until he paid taxes, authority spokesman William Crowley said Tuesday.

Reinhardt, the village Department of Public Works superintendent, has strongly opposed a measure approved by the board in November that has allowed a housing developer to pay less for water hookup charges than what is established by village law. He said the board's unanimous decision has given preferential treatment to Lawler Realty of Sackets Harbor, allowing the developer to be charged significantly less for the installation of water meters than what others have been charged under similar scenarios.
