The name of a man killed in a traffic accident that closed a stretch of highway 75 near Sabetha Wednesday has been released. Seventy-seven-year-old Arnold Sherrell from Texas was killed in an accident involving a motorcycle and a semi tractor around 2:54 p.m. Kansas Highway Patrol's website said Sherrell was driving a motorcycle in the northbound lane when he tried to pass a northbound semi by moving into the southbound lane. A Kansas woman was killed and three children were injured in an accident Thursday morning in Nemaha County involving a semi and a van around 9:00 a.m. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that the semi, driven by 63-year-old Wayne Mowery of LaCygne was westbound on U.S. 36 at W Rd. and a 2004 Chevrolet G3500 Van driven by 37-year-old Rebecca Lynne Chrismas, of Wetmore, was southbound. KHP says the Van failed to yield at a stop sign at W Road, causing the semi to strike the Van. Comment?
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the school bus accident that sent nearly two dozen children to the hospital last week was the driver's fault. 22 children and the driver were treated at hospitals in Hiawatha and Horton November 18th after the bus failed to stop at the intersection of US 73 Hihway and 170th Street.
