    A group of volunteers from all over the mountain and as far away as Arizona, upset with the mess and trash left behind by winter visitors revealed as the snow melted, organized a forest cleanup day in Running Springs last Saturday through a grass roots effort. They met at Rim Nordic Cross Country Ski and Bicycle Park where they were assigned areas to be cleaned and then set out with trucks and bags and began to pick up the trash.

    Running Springs Water District drew a line in the sand when the district adopted Ordinance 47 at its March 29 meeting, thereby substantially increasing future wastewater treatment rates to the communities of Green Valley Lake and Arrowbear. According to documents obtained by The Alpenhorn News , Running Springs Water District justified the increase based on excessive raw sewage both communities allegedly sent to RSWD treatment plant during this year's January storms.
