Because James and Angela Jones-O'Brien found him this afternoon, and as you can see, a parrot is like the Spanish Inquisition - nobody expects it . They've since turned Polly over to Boston Animal Control, which has found a bunk for him or her at its shelter on Mahler Road in Roslindale.

    Rudy Jean-Baptiste, 28, of Roslindale, was ordered held without bail at his arraignment on a murder charge today in West Roxbury Municipal Court. According to the DA's office, workers and customers at La Familia, 1205 Hyde Park Ave., were administering CPR and trying to stanch the bleeding from multiple wounds when first responders arrived.

    Roxbury Preparatory Charter School yesterday filed a "letter with intent" with the BPDA that signals it will soon file detailed plans to replace auto sales and repair buildings on Belgrade Avenue and West Roxbury Parkway with a three-story school for 800 students. The proposed school, on a one-acre site, would replace temporary high-school quarters for which it has a three-year lease at the old Most Precious Blood School in Hyde Park.

    Boston Parents Schoolyard News reports that parents at the Bates School on Beech Street have set up a GoFundMe page to try to raise enough money to keep Adam Prisby, who runs a program that helps to connect poor students with extra resources in the community - right down to ensuring homeless students get Christmas presents and eyeglasses. The school has reallocated funds from some other budgets - including for school supplies - to try to keep him, but because BPS also cut the school's overall budget by $117,000 for the coming school year, it's still $30,000 short.

Police chased the guy - who dropped an iPad and phone along the way - to a house on Cliffmont Street, midway between Canterbury and Grew, where they lost sight of him but noticed what appeared to be a freshly broken-open door.
