    City Council later this month is expected to pass an ordinance giving consent to the Ohio Department of Transportation to install a vandal protection fence on the Lorain Road Bridge. Fairview Park Mayor Eileen Ann Patton said a Cleveland resident previously petitioned ODOT to put a fence on the Lorain Road Bridge, which spans the Cleveland Metroparks Rocky River Reservation, to prevent suicides.

Former Chief Daniel Gilles claims the announcement from Mayor Ann Marie Donegan included "patently false" statements from interim police Chief William Traine, whom Gilles believes was illegally appointed to his position, the suit says.

    With the help of a new $1.9 million federal grant, the MetroHealth System aims to ensure that at least 95 percent of law enforcement agencies across Cuyahoga County carry and distribute the opioid overdose-reversal drug naloxone by January of 2019. The four-year grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will also fund the deployment of "quick response" teams of area police officers and social workers that will visit the homes of survivors after an overdose to help connect them to treatment.

The Frostville parking lot filled up early, so park rangers were on hand to guide visitors to the overflow parking area across Cedar Point Road and to ensure that they could safely cross the roadway.
