    Questions about the health of the Rochester-area labor market are being raised again following the release of county-level employment data on June 8. As discussed in my April column, monthly employment estimates generated by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics were ratcheted downward in March following the annual revision process known as "re-benchmarking." Rather than experiencing a modest increase in hiring activity, as was reported prior to revision, the re-benchmarked data showed that local employment was contracting on a year-over-year basis in the final months of 2015 and early 2016.
