That translates into earnings per share of 36 cents for the High Point-based bank , which has seen its asset base grow since the end of the quarter on June 30 with its completed acquisition of Valley Bank of Roanoke, Va.

Department of Transportation, said Thursday that Adams Construction of Roanoke, Va., has begun work on a $1.4 million contract to resurface about 10.8 miles of primary roads, including a 1-mile section of U.S. 52. On Aug. 1, the contractor is scheduled to start a $1.3 million resurfacing project that includes 5 miles of secondary roads.
