Before the sentence was handed down, a defense attorney for Peyton Rees, 18, said coaches were aware of the "hazing initiation," which the lawyer said happened routinely.

    Riverton school administrators revealed some details Tuesday about a January hazing incident that resulted in the expulsion of three former Riverton High School wrestlers this week. In a press release, Fremont County School District 25 superintendent Terry Snyder said the three students "physically assaulted and sexually harassed" eight victims Jan. 4 on a bus trip to a wrestling competition in Douglas.

    The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a request to take up the Wind River Indian Reservation's boundary case, in which the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho sought to have the city of Riverton and other areas north of the Wind River be declared part of the reservation. The tribes' hopes were killed in an unremarkable fashion early Monday, when the boundary case was listed among 130 cases that the Supreme Court denied a review for.

    The Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes have not posed "any new or significant concern about the law of reservation diminishment" that would merit a U.S. Supreme Court review of a local boundary dispute, attorneys for the Wyoming Attorney General's Office argue. Deputy attorney general James Kaste wrote in a Friday court filing that, in the February request for the Supreme Court to weigh in on the Wind River Indian Reservation boundaries, the tribes' attorneys merely used the "bulk of their petition" to attack "how the Tenth Circuit applied the language of the 1905 Act and surrounding relevant facts."

    While areas of Wyoming received above-average snowfall this past winter and spring, forecasters are not expecting a repeat of last year's flooding that occurred during the annual spring and summer melt. The main difference between last year and this year is that most of the snow this past winter collected high up in the mountains whereas in 2017 a lot of snow piled up at lower elevations as well, according to hydrologist Jim Fahey of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Riverton.

    Nathan Thomas, 31, who was charged with robbing the now closed Maverik convenience store on South Federal Boulevard in Riverton in March, could face up to seven years imprisonment under the term of a plea agreement recently made with the Fremont County Attorney's Office. The plea deal stipulates that, after the Riverton man pleads guilty, his potential sentence will be capped at five to seven years imprisonment.

    The Fremont County Attorney's Office has filed a brief in federal court opposing a requested review by the U.S. Supreme Court of an ongoing lawsuit regarding the Wind River Indian Reservation boundary. Chief civil deputy Jodi Darrough asserts in a brief filed Friday that a 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals finding that Riverton and other areas north of the Wind River do not lie within the reservation only solidified the established decisions that have already "been exhaustively litigated on the criminal, civil and administrative law fronts."

    A group of Indian law professors and the National Congress of American Indians have joined the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes' request for the U.S. Supreme Court to review the Wind River Indian Reservation boundary case. Both groups had participated in the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals' original scrutiny of the reservation boundary but had not joined the tribes' failed request for the 10th Circuit to revisit its 2017 decision that Riverton and other areas north of the Wind River do not lie within the boundaries of the reservation.
