    The best decision Coach Lovett made during that trip was to send right hander Stephen Penn to the mound against the Jays, as Penn responded with a magnificent performance, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning, before giving up a base hit and settling for a one-hit shutout as the Indians improved to 4-7 with a 7-0 victory. , he dominated Ripley hitters, striking out 12. He did walk six batters, but none of them came around to score.

    The beat rolls on for Coach Doug McFarland and his young and talented Peebles Lady Indians varsity softball squad and that roll continued in the past week at the expense of the Ripley Lady Jays, as the Lady Indians swept a home and home series in dominating fashion, shutting out the Jays 13-0 on April 21 and then 12-0 on April 25. Both of the games were Southern Hills Athletic Conference contests and the two wins improved the Peebles girls to 11-2 on the season, 8-1 in the SHAC. The April 21 game was played on the home field of the Lady Jays, which is actually located in Aberdeen, but the site didn't matter as the Lady Indians overcame a slow start to pound out a 13-0 run rule win in five innings.
