He was a WW II Army veteran serving in the 10th Mountain Division in the European Theatre. George retired from Verizon/General Telephone Company after 34 years. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Geneva Canter Warner of Richmond; daughter, Connie (Matt) Strittmatter of Richmond; son, Gary Warner of Orlando, Florida; grandson, Chris Strittmatter of Palm Beach, Florida; brother, Robert (Rowena) Warner of Centerville, Indiana; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma "Joyce" Warner Lafuse; and nephew, David Warner. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
