    The members of the Riceboro Volunteer Fire-Rescue Department received notification from the Insurance Service Office that the city's public fire protection classification has been lowered to the new rating of 05/5X from 6/9. The new rating, which came from the results of a survey conducted March 2 by the ISO, applies to all properties within 5 road miles of the station headquarters and within 1,000 feet of a hydrant.

    A car that was driving on the wrong side of the road ended with four people in jail Tuesday afternoon after narcotics were discovered in their vehicle, according to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office. Public Information Officer Christina Tuten said the men were stopped in the Barrington Ferry area shortly after 2 p.m. Lonnie Bowman, a K-9 officer with the LCSO, was alerted by his K-9 partner there was possibly narcotics in the vehicle.
