Thursday Jun 11 | Dallas Observer

One would think maybe, just maybe, XTO Energy, faced with a peer-reviewed study by SMU researchers and a mountain of evidence that the company is causing earthquakes, would consider shutting down its fracking and disposal wells in Azle and Reno. The SMU and federal research demonstrates pretty clearly that the swarm of earthquakes that struck Azle and nearby town Reno in 2013 were caused by fracking-related activities, namely wastewater disposal.

Friday Jun 5 | Dallas Morning News

In a public meeting that grew heated at times, energy company officials on Friday questioned a Southern Methodist University-led study that linked some North Texas earthquakes to oil and gas activity. Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey, SMU and the University of Texas concluded that two disposal wells, where companies bury wastewater from oil and gas operations, most likely triggered quakes in Azle and Reno, northwest of Fort Worth, in 2013 and 2014.

    Friday Jun 5 | Star-Telegram.com

Requiring oil and gas drillers to provide additional data and developing better maps that detail underground fault lines would help state officials - and the public - come to a better understanding of why the earth is suddenly on the move in North Texas. The ideas came during a sometimes testy meeting on Friday in Austin between scientists and oil and gas industry representatives, who gathered to discuss an academic study that tied a series of earthquakes near Reno and Azle in 2013 and 2014 to nearby wastewater disposal wells.
