You can't win a major golf tournament on the first day, but you can certainly play yourself right out of contention, if not out of the weekend entirely. That fact may be among the reasons why so many competitors at the 2105 U.S. Women's Open seemed so nervous during the first round July 9. I arrived early on the course, with the rain slowly tapering off into a steady drizzle.

    As the Rehoboth Beach election approaches, the town commissioners are dealing with multiple important and challenging issues, ranging from the recent vote and subsequent lawsuit on the ocean outfall and city hall, to protecting and preserving the character of our small town and its neighborhoods from over-development. I doubt if there is anyone who agrees with everything a candidate espouses, or all of their votes if they are an incumbent.

    There has been a long tradition in Rehoboth Beach that when our city commissioners do an outstanding job representing their constituents, working hard, doing the research, and making the tough choices for the benefit of the community and its citizens, they are rewarded by getting re-elected so they can continue to serve. We have two commissioners up for re-election this year, Bill Sargent and Patrick Gossett, who have shown deep commitment, have done the heavy lifting, attended countless meetings, studied the issues and met with their neighbors to arrive at the best course for Rehoboth's future.
