    On Tuesday night at a meeting starting at 5pm, Palo Alto Council is considering a budget that increases the cost of employee parking permits to a level that is more competitive with nearby cities, but still much less than the cost of common transit passes. The parking increases would fund the Transportation Management Association 's programs to help downtown workers commute without driving, lowering parking demand and traffic.

    Thanks to persistent efforts from supporters of affordable housing and transit, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors increased funding for affordable housing from Measure K sales tax, while reducing and postponing cuts to its contribution to SamTrans paratransit service. After an initial proposal of $15 million annually, the amount of funding dedicated to below market rate housing was increased to $22.5 million next fiscal year and $21.25 million the following year.

    In response to the urging of housing advocates to increase funding for affordable housing from the recently extended Measure K sales tax, San Mateo County proposes to eliminate funding for SamTrans paratransit service, which was allocated in the summer of 2013 when the tax was first passed. According to the staff report , other expenses proposed to be reduced or deferred include a fund for miscellaneous local programs at the discretion of county supervisors, a program for at-risk youth, and disaster-recovery efforts for the county's IT systems.

The proposed building includes 350 apartments, of which 315 will be market rate and 35 below market rate at the low income level.
