    Up to a $9,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case of two endangered whooping cranes that were shot and killed just south of Rayne off of Highway 35 on May 20. According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the two cranes killed had been released into the wild only last December. The LDWF has released 75 whooping cranes since 2011, and is currently tracking 38 animals.
