    Steve Haring and Abby Cramer from MSA Engineering firm of the Quad City were present at the Village of Stronghurst board meeting Monday, August 3rd, with an update on where they were with plans for the new water tower. Haring told the board the cost would be an estimated $1.25 million, but would not know an actual cost until the bids were let.

    OLENA OBSERVATIONS: Telegrams to relatives Sabbath day bore the sad tidings to relatives that Mr. Harry Marshall, formerly of this neighborhood, was very seriously ill in a hospital in Kansas City of pneumonia. Later telegrams announced he had passed away.

    Bridge Club Banquet: The ladies of the Bridge Club entertained their husbands and friends at a banquet given at the NuVon Hotel Tuesday evening. After the elaborate dinner, the guests went to the Foster Lazear home where 500 and bridge was played the balance of the evening.

    Trustees of the Raritan Village Board met March 12th in regular session in the meeting room of the Raritan Fire House, and under "New Business" a motion by trustee Sammy Blender, seconded by trustee Magee, was unanimously approved to have the roll off dumpsters in town for the Raritan Clean-Up on May 8, 9, and 10. Under "Old Business" Dave Schaub from Waste Management discussed a proposed five year contract that he handed out to each board member. After a motion was made by trustee Knapp, seconded by trustee Rob Williamson, the board unanimously voted to approve the 5-year contract.
