    A fire was mostly contained early Tuesday evening after it destroyed a house, consumed at least 25 acres and threatened nearly 20 other homes in Ransom Canyon. Rand McPherson, chief of the Ransom Canyon Fire Department, said the blaze was reported around 2:15 p.m. The Ransom Canyon, Buffalo Springs Lake, Roosevelt and Slaton Fire Departments responded to the scene.
