    Replacement of the deteriorated Kenmawr Bridge connecting Rankin and Swissvale will require construction of two bridges, according to plans unveiled last week by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Because it wants to build the new bridge in the current alignment, PennDOT will build a temporary span just west of the existing structure to carry traffic for the expected five-month construction period, said Dan Cessna, district executive.

    A Luzerne County judge on Monday lifted a contempt of court order against the lawyer representing James Rankin, who was shot and paralyzed by Wilkes-Barre police during a home-invasion robbery in 2012. The lawyer, Holly Dobrosky, ran afoul of Luzerne County Judge Joseph Sklarosky Jr. in January by failing to appear in court but apologized Monday, saying she forgot about the hearing because of her parents' health issues.
