The potential closure of more than 80 Texas offices was recommended by the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission, although Texas DPS says they will take no action without direction from state lawmakers.

    A Wood County jury has sentenced a Quitman man who shot two oil workers who were trying to get on the then-sheriff's land to have access to an oil well to five years in prison. The jury found Jerry Wayne Boone, 65, guilty of two counts of second-degree aggravated assault on March 29. They handed down concurrent sentences of five and two years on April 4. Boone was arrested in November following a grand jury indictment.

    A Wood County jury has found a Quitman man guilty in connection with the shootings of two oil workers who were trying to get on the then-sheriff's land to have access to an oil well.     The National Weather Service says a tornado watch is in effect through 6 p.m. for Bowie; Camp; Cass; Delta; Franklin; Gregg; Harrison; Hopkins; Lamar; Marion; Morris; Rains; Red River; Smith; Titus; Upshur; Van Zandt and Wood counties. According to the NWS, grounds remain saturated in wake of widespread heavy rains that have already fallen since Tuesday.

Usually they finish the job in one day, but since the government was shut down Monday, they could only go as far as one tank of gas would take them.

    A man charged in connection with the deaths of two Quitman toddlers was sentenced to 10 years in prison for tampering with evidence. Thomas "T.J." Liles is believed to be involved with the murders of 3-year-old Gabriella Guerrero and 1 year-old Natalye Price.
