Joseph was born May 30, 1938 in Galway, Ireland, a son of the late Mary and Mark O'Connor.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Timothy, Hannah, Adam, Nathan, and William; his sisters, Anne Ziolkowski of Smithtown, N.Y. and Lillian Russo of Northvale, N.J.; his brother, Raymond Meyer of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. John was born and raised in the Bronx, N.Y., and served in the U.S. Navy before completing his undergraduate degree at Columbia University.
