    The Vermont State Police received a report on Saturday about a shooting at 57 Hi Lo Biddy Road in Putney. Jason Robison, 31, of Westminster and Putney, was in an altercation with Robull Bryant, 37, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Alfred Spellman, 36, of Brooklyn, N.Y. Robison shot at Bryant and Spellman who returned fire, according to police.

    After receiving an online tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, members of the Brattleboro Police Department, the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children's Task Force, and the Hinsdale, N.H., Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence in Brattleboro for possession of child pornography. As a result, Joseph Scanlon, of Brattleboro, was arrested and flashed cited to appear in Windham County Superior Court to answer the charge of possession of child pornography.

Lucien Rosenbloom, 19, of Putney, and Noah Morse, 18, of Hartland, were pals in high school together and decided to break into PCS and steal seven or eight guitars, several amplifiers, several computers and tools just two weeks before fall classes are scheduled to commence.

    Submitted Photo A surveillance picture snapped at about 5:30 a.m. on Saturday shows two young men leaving the school's campus after allegedly taking a dip in the town pool. Putney Central School Principal Herve Pelletier said he believes the two men photographed are the same individuals that broke-in to the school Saturday morning and stole several items such as laptops, guitars, amps and several other items, which was caught via video surveillance.

    Residents decided in a 374 to 124 vote to withdraw from the Brattleboro Union High School District #6 because of Act 46. The next step, said Mike Hebert, chairman of the Vernon School Board, is to draft a plan that the Agency of Education and the Vermont Board of Education can agree does not violate the intent of Act 46. "We are going to do the work that needs to be done to insure that we do what is in the best interests of our students and our taxpayers," said Hebert. However, he added, Vernon also must receive approval from the other four towns in BUHS #6 before the town can actually cut formal ties with the district.
