Zander Taylor, Ian Almeida, Kawika Akahi, Blake Sullivan, Moziah Gonzalez and Collin Miller scored for Na Alii .

    The Lahainaluna High School girls basketball team moved one win away from its eighth straight unbeaten Maui Interscholastic League season and 12th consecutive MIL title overall by defeating Maui High 69-16 on Thursday in an MIL Division I tournament semifinal game at Kaulaheanuiokamoku Gym in Pukalani. Keleah-Aiko Koloi scored 22 points for the Lunas , who led 55-11 at halftime on the way to their 119th straight league victory.

    Taje Akaka scored 22 points to lead the Baldwin High School boys basketball team to a 67-38 victory over Kamehameha Maui on Wednesday night at the Warriors' gym in Pukalani. Baldwin held a 20-17 lead at halftime and just 22-20 early in the third quarter before pulling away thanks to Akaka and Feike.

    FIRST PHOTO: Cherie Serrano and her, sons Joshua Serrano and Caleb Serrano, were part of a group consisting of seven mothers and 12 children who put together 46 gift bags for children at the Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center over the holidays. Lianne Brink initiated the effort with the help of her friends and their children instead of her friends giving gifts to her own three keiki.

    Donations from customers helped Pukalani Superette present a check of $1,000 to each of the three Upcountry high school organizations on Dec. 17. The funds went to Kamehameha Schools Maui PTSO, King Kekaulike High School PTSA, and the Seabury Hall Parent Organization. The check presentation was attended by Aric Nakashima, co-owner of Pukalani Superette ; Dyvette Fong, president of the Seabury Hall Parents Organization; Leanne Fong, president of PTSO of Kamehameha Schools Maui; and Myles Nakashima, co-owner of Pukalani Superette and president of King Kekaulike High School PTSA.

Twelve 4-year-olds enjoyed their first day on campus on Aug. 19, in a new classroom and dedicated playground, as part of the new Pre-K Program.
