    Four North Carolina anglers and three South Carolina anglers will be among the 53 total anglers competing for the FLW Cup's $300,000 grand prize on Lake Murray Aug. 11 - 13. It's a homecoming of sorts for Anthony Gagliardi of Prosperity, S.C., who won the Cup the last time it was held here in 2014. Four of the anglers, Matt Arey of Shelby, N.C., Shane LeHew of Catawba, N.C., Brandon Cobb of Greenwood, S.C., and Gagliardi qualified for this year's Cup by finishing in the top 35 the 2017 FLW Tour standings.

Main St., and the work crew from Eight Acres Recycling never expected to uncover original lettering of the old Bank of Prosperity when working to remove the corrugated metal facade on the building last week. Discovered at the top of the building were the original hand-painted letters that read "The Bank of Prosperity, S.C." Leading up to the Depression, the economy was flourishing with the presence of banks.

    Americans for the Arts, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that provides support to arts groups across the country, just published its latest economic impact report, "Arts and Economic Prosperity 5." The report presents 2015 data collected from 341 cities, counties and regions, including Charleston, Columbia and Spartanburg areas as well as York County in South Carolina. "Nationally, the nonprofit arts and culture industry generated $166.3 billion of economic activity during 2015: $63.8 billion in spending by arts and cultural organizations and an additional $102.5 billion in event-related expenditures by their audiences," states Americans for the Arts.
