Prescott keepers of history honored with state awards
Troop A of the Arizona Rough Riders and Cowboy Artist Bill Nebeker will join an elite circle Sunday when they become Arizona Culturekeepers at a ceremony in Scottsdale. The award is in keeping with its name and celebrates Arizonans who have gone above and beyond in preserving this state's history, culture, environment and economy. A welcome sign from a nostalgic time returns home to Prescott
On a brisk Friday morning, the City of Prescott got a piece of its history back. A team effort brought the Senator Drive-In sign from the scrap heap to the highway, to the delight of a small group of people. Some might remember the roughly 13-by-20 sign falling into dry brush, and a crew cutting it into pieces in October 2008. People like Stephen Rogers and Jane Orr decided to do something about it. The Senator Drive-In sign made a return engagement in Prescott last week after going offline more than a year ago. A crew tore it down in mid-October 2008 after someone complained about it.
