    Village police on Monday charged Alexander P. Durant, 25, Potsdam, with driving while ability impaired by alcohol and drugs combined and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. He was also cited with failure to keep right, driving across hazard markings, improper license plates, unregistered motor vehicle, operating without insurance, consumption of alcoholic beverage/possession of open container in motor vehicle, failure to notify DMV of address change and unlawful possession of marijuana.

    Police charged three people Friday following an underage alcohol sales compliance check on 13 businesses in the village with the assistance of an underage agent of the police department. Susan E. Michele, 59, an employee at Walgreens, 173 Market St., Debora A. Madsen, 49, an employee at the Sunoco, 147 Market St., and Jodie E. Follmer, 29, an employee at Club 21, 6 Elm St., each were charged with prohibited sale of alcohol to a person under 21. The staff at the other 10 businesses checked and turned away the underage agent without selling the alcohol to the agent, police said.
