For the second time in as many months, ferry service between Coupeville and Port Townsend has been reduced to one boat due to a rudder issue and there's a possibility it could remain that way for a while. The Kennewick was taken out of service Wednesday after an inspection revealed that parts of the rudder were showing significant signs of wear. Comment?

The Hood Canal Bridge was closed until further notice shortly about 10:30 a.m. Sept. 9. A state Department of Transportation spokeswoman said it could be reopened at 4:30 p.m. Department spokeswoman Claudia Bingham Baker said a "confluence of circumstances" caused the drawspan to be pushed out of alignment with the bridge.
