    Oct. 14 will be rainy and windy, but that will be a relative lull before a potentially damaging storm this weekend, the National Weather Service reports. As you likely know by now, a potentially damaging storm - its origins traced to Typhoon Songda in the Western Pacific - is expected to land somewhere between the Washington's central coast and the central coast of Vancouver Island late Oct. 13. A worst-case scenario: "A historical windstorm for nearly all of Western Washington that would long be remembered," the National Weather Center reports.

    The body of a Poulsbo man was recovered in the water off the western shore of Whidbey Island Aug. 20. Marine rescue units from the Island County Sheriff's Department and Central Whidbey Fire & Rescue responded to the report of a sailboat operator who spotted a body floating in the water northwest of Fort Casey State Park. The body was recovered about a mile from shore at 12:51 p.m., Island County Coroner Robert Bishop said.

    As Kitsap Transit prepares for one of the most important votes this November in the history of passenger-only ferry service in the Puget Sound region, a stark fact emerged from a public survey conducted in September 2015: Only four out of 10 Kitsap County residents agreed that they had heard anything about plans to provide passenger-only ferry service between Kitsap County and Seattle. Put another way, 60 percent of county residents have no idea there will even be a vote on the matter, or were aware of any plan.
