    The City of Port Orchard and its Homelessness Committee are partnering with South Kitsap Helpline Food Bank to collect food donations. City officials will have collection boxes to accept donations on the second floor of City Hall, 216 Prospect St., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Dec. 30. Donations also will be accepted at City Hall during the 18th annual Festival of Chimes and Lights event on Dec. 3. City Clerk Brandy Rinearson said more than 2,000 local low-income families are expected to sign up with the food bank to receive holiday meal baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Harrison Port Orchard Urgent Care informed its patients last month that it will reduce its evening hours beginning Oct. 31. In a letter to patients, Harrison Urgent Care wrote that the move to the new operating hours of 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. was done in response to customer community feedback about long wait times throughout the day. In the letter, signed by clinic administrator Kelly Riley and medical director Korina Tanner, MD, the administrators wrote that the change "will ensure that three providers are in clinic during all business hours, which will improve access to our providers and decrease the time patients spend in the waiting room."

The accident was reported at 2:52 p.m. on Oct. 11, with patrol deputies from Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, and engine and medic crews from South Kitsap Fire and Rescue responding to the accident site, which was near Kodiak Place SW, outside the Port Orchard city limits.
