Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard, Washington Department of Ecology and South Kitsap Fire and Rescue mopped up what state Department of Ecology officials said was the largest maritime fuel leakage in years to spill into waters off Port Orchard and Puget Sound.

    Three Bremerton motorists were involved in a four-vehicle crash on State Route 16 south of Port Orchard March 21. One of the Bremerton drivers was injured and transported to Harrison Medical Center. The incident began after a 26-year-old Bremerton man and a 76-year-old Bremerton woman had parked their two cars along the right shoulder of eastbound SR16 around 9:18 a.m. At that time, a 74-year-old Bonney Lake man was driving his 2011 Ford Ranger pickup truck east on the highway in one of the lanes.

    The National Museum of Natural History plans to repatriate to the Suquamish Tribe the remains of a person removed in 1841 from his or her burial site in what is now Port Orchard. According to an official notice by the national museum, which is operated by the Smithsonian Institution, the remains were "collected" from a canoe burial by Assistant Surgeon Silas Holmes of the Wilkes Expedition.
