    A Pomona man who prosecutors said fired the gun that killed an 8-year-old boy in a 2017 drive-by shooting faces life in prison without possibility of parole after he was convicted Wednesday, Dec. 5, of first-degree murder and other charges. Sengchan Houl, 36, was convicted by jurors who deliberated less than two hours after they heard evidence that he fired from a vehicle and killed the boy, Jonah Hwang, also of Pomona.

    A San Bernardino County man was sentenced Monday to 35 years to life in prison for raping two homeless women and attacking another female transient in Pomona last year. Jurors deliberated about 1 1/2 days in September before finding him guilty of two counts of forcible rape and one count each of assault with intent to commit rape, assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, kidnapping to commit rape and second-degree robbery.
