    The budget is for $2.6 million and is set to officially be adopted on the third Tuesday in April at a special meeting - this is commonly called the "laying of the levy." City Clerk Amber Tatterson presented council with the budget draft as well as a draft for the 2015-16 Coal Severance Fund which is estimated to be at $15,000.

    A Point Pleasant man has been sentenced to prison after entering a plea of guilty to attempted murder in Mason County Circuit Court. Eugene J. DeNapoli, 27, of Point Pleasant, appeared before Judge David W. Nibert last week and was sentenced to three to 15 years in the custody of the West Virginia Division of Corrections.

    The Mason County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety check point on Friday night in the 400-block of Viand St. in Point Pleasant, thanks to a grant from the Governor's Highway Safety Program. Chief Deputy Dave Downing said the check point provided deputies with an opportunity to pass out information on the dangers of drunk driving and continue to create awareness about the issue.
