    The driver of one vehicle fled the scene of a three-car crash on Interstate 80 eastbound at mile marker 304.9 in Stroud Township on Monday, according to state police at Swiftwater. Police say that Gilberto Amper, 58, of Pocono Summit was slowing down for a previous crash when Barbara Rescigno, 55, of Tobyhanna, who was behind Amper, also started to slow down.

    Pocono Mountain Regional Police arrested a 19-year-old Pocono Summit man on April 10 and charged him with statutory sexual assault, according to a police report sent out on Friday. Police say that Jordan Hardy had sex with a 14-year-old girl and also supplied her with alcohol and marijuana.

    Anthony DiValentino, 59, of Pocono Summit, was convicted Feb. 27 on charges including attempted first-degree assault and second-degree conspiracy stemming from the June 14, 2010, crash and subsequent incidents where DiValentino talked with a fellow jail inmate about a plan to kill the victim. DiValentino originally pleaded guilty in 2011 to the two top counts in the case - attempted murder and conspiracy - and was sentenced to 18 years in prison, but successfully appealed after arguing he hadn't understood the post-release supervision component of the sentence.

    Patrick A. McGinley, age not listed, of Pocono Summit, is charged with driving under the influence and causing a 6:44 p.m. Feb. 6 crash on Route 940 in Pocono Summit. McGinley showed signs of intoxication, failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Monroe County DUI Center, where his blood alcohol level was tested and found to be more than three times the legal limit, police said.

    The Ready to Succeed Scholarship Program is helping Pennsylvania college students with funding for their education. The program, which was launched this year after Pennsylvania allocated $5 million for the merit-based scholarship in its budget, was available for college students attending private and public schools in Pennsylvania. At East Stroudsburg University, 40 scholarships were awarded for the 2014-2015 academic year as a part of the RTSS program.
