    The two squads won the Albemarle Athletic Conference championship in their respective meets on Tuesday at John A. Holmes High School. Camden won the boys competition with 154 points, John A. Holmes was second with 132 points, Manteo was third with 91 points, Gates was fourth with 65 points, Plymouth was fifth with 55 points and Perquimans was sixth with 22 points.

    Edenton scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings, but Perquimans responded with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth to retake the lead. Ben Ward went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored for the Aces, while Jaden Bobbitt went 1-for-3 with one run scored and one run batted in.

Arts of the Albemarle hosts Improv Fridays for youth ages 10-18 every Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. through June 28. Cost is $5 a session.

    Limited space has prompted College of The Albemarle to delay relocating its heating, ventilation and air conditioning program to Elizabeth City. Roger Lambertson, who co-chairs the COA Board of Trustees' Building and Grounds Committee, noted at the panel's meeting last week he had read a newspaper report that the college's HVAC program was not moving from the Edenton-Chowan campus to Elizabeth City as planned, and had since learned it was because of space issues.
