Q: Hi Roadshow Guy: The other night on my way home southbound on Interstate 680, traffic suddenly stopped and I could tell I wasn't going to be able to stop before hitting the truck in front of me, so I quickly slipped into the toll lane. I passed a few cars and then was able to turn back into the normal traffic lanes.

    A 22-year-old Concord man and an 18-year-old Martinez woman survived a scary encounter when they were carjacked outside the Sunvalley Mall early Wednesday. Pleasant Hill police officers and deputies from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office arrested 24-year-old Rocky Wilson, of Antioch, after tracking him down in Bay Point, police said.

    A man killed when he was hit by a big rig truck on Thursday was the public information officer in the city of Pleasant Hill. Friends of Martin Nelis confirmed he died when the truck hit him in the 1800 block of Reliez Valley Road, near Withers Avenue, around 12:30 p.m. Nelis' death also was mentioned on his Facebook page.

A spokeswoman for Southwest Key - a nonprofit network of shelters that houses unaccompanied children across three states under contracts with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement - confirmed Monday to the city of Pleasant Hill that the facility there is housing two girls who were separated from their parents.
