    The owner of a Southington dental practice is facing fraud and larceny charges after authorities said he billed Medicaid for more expensive procedures than were actually performed or necessary or for procedures that were never performed at all. Thomas DeRienzo, 58, of Southbury, was charged with first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community, second-degree vendor fraud and insurance fraud for the false claims to the publicly-funded health care program for low-income individuals, which the chief state's attorney's office in Rocky Hill said totaled $7,213.92.

Dozens of mourners trickled into Plantsville Funeral Home between 3 and 7 p.m. to pay respects to AnnMarie "Annie" Olender, 16, who died, along with Olivia Fusco, 14, Tuesday in the crash on I-84.

    Eleven minors between the ages of 17 and 20 were issued citations for possessing alcohol at a Motel 6 on Queen Street early Saturday morning, according to police. Police said they were dispatched to the Motel 6 at 625 Queen St. at approximately 12:45 a.m. Jan. 17 over a reported "loud party" to find 11 underage people in a motel room in possession of alcohol.
