    After having served for the Plainview Fire Department for 28 years, its chief Rusty Powers will retire from his post effective June 1. To celebrate his career with the department a reception will be hosted from 3 to 5 p.m. June 1 at Fire Station 3, located at 3405 Southwest 3rd St. in Plainview, according to a City of Plainview news release. Powers first began working with the department in 1990 as a firefighter/paramedic, then worked as the equipment operator, promoted to Lieutenant and then in 2009 was made fire chief.

Broadway St. in Plainview on Feb. 28. The male suspect is said to be in his teens, standing at 4 feet, 6 inches and was seen wearing a red hoodie with black and white striped pants.

    The accidents happened around 11:30 Wednesday night between mile markers 48 and 49. Hale County Sheriff's deputies say a heard of cattle were loose on the highway. Three of the cows were hit and killed by oncoming drivers.
