    A male resident was killed in an early-morning fire Tuesday at a home on Harnett-Dunn Highway, where officials with the Sampson County Fire Marshal's Office and N.C. State Bureau of Investigation remained on scene throughout the day investigating the cause of the deadly blaze. The call came of the fire came in at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday and responding firefighters found the house, located at 3130 Harnett-Dunn Hwy., Newton Grove, fully involved.

    A Dunn woman has been charged with allegedly setting fire to a mobile home in Plain View earlier this month, according to Sampson County Sheriff's investigators. Jackie Lynn Gregory, 28, of 1080 George Perry Road, Dunn, has been charged with second degree arson, a felony offense.

    A 67-year-old Plain View man accused of forcing a female relative to have sex with him for well over a decade was jailed on felony charges and a sizable bond Tuesday after an eight-month long investigation by Sampson County Sheriff's authorities. Investigators with the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division received a sexual assault complaint from a victim at the beginning of this year and launched the investigation, which has remained active ever since.

    A man was arrested following an early-morning traffic stop after reportedly giving a false name to a deputy, who then found the man in possession of meth, according to reports. Christopher Blake Daniels, 20, of 6419 Godwin Lake Road, Dunn, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resist, obstruct and delay.
