    At 11:26 p.m. Friday, officers responded to reports of that collision at Railroad Avenue and Castlewood Drive and found the bicyclist lying in southbound Railroad lanes and suffering from head trauma, police said in a statement Saturday. The bicyclist was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he was pronounced dead.

    The North Coast Section football selection committee made its decision Sunday, choosing Clayton Valley Charter over Pittsburg for the third seed in the Open Division playoffs. Pittsburg drew the dreaded fourth seed - the one held by Clayton Valley the past two years - and will visit De La Salle in a semifinal Nov. 9. Pittsburg had hoped the committee would be swayed by the Pirates' superior strength of schedule, their decisive win Saturday over Antioch - the only team to beat Clayton Valley - and the fact they were not allowed to scrimmage before their season-opening, double overtime loss to Clayton Valley, which did scrimmage.
