Facilitator Cheryl Ricketts, who was hailed by many area leaders as instrumental in helping to bridge the gap between the city and township during the recent and successful Smith/Sanders annexation negotiations that started in June 2014 and resulted in city and township approval this month, wants to build on that new found spirit of cooperation and collaboration to forge an enduring partnership between the two entities.

    A man went to the Pickerington Division of Police headquarters at 2:01 p.m. Feb. 13 to request charges be filed against a man he alleges assaulted him during an altercation that occurred a few days prior. Reports said the man had spoken to officers when when the alleged assault occurred at a location in the 1100 block of Hill Road North, but declined to press charges at that time.

    At a third reading of legislation, Pickerington City Council voted unanimously to approve an annexation agreement for the Smith/Sanders properties Feb. 17, which means 36 acres of land located to the southeast of the Refugee and Pickerington roads intersection in Violet Township will annex into the city of Pickerington. With an assist from the Ricketts family, which provided three acres of land to allow for the necessary contiguity and which also helped negotiate a deal between the property owners, Violet Township and the city, the table now is set for future development on the eastern corridor of the city.
