    A 19-year-old Pescadero man remains in custody after a motion to reduce charges related to his alleged actions with two female students was denied by a judge Thursday, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. Having pleaded not guilty to charges including child molestation and unlawful sexual intercourse Dec. 11, Omar Maciasmorales was also awaiting word on whether a motion to reduce his $300,000 bail would be granted Thursday, according to prosecutors.

    A Healdsburg man accused of vehicular manslaughter in a fatal crash in which he allegedly caused a head-on collision on Highway 1 in February pleaded not guilty Thursday, according to San Mateo County prosecutors. The crash occurred near Pescadero on Feb. 10 when Jazz Orion Hayhurst-Loric, 28, sped up to 70 mph in a 55 mph zone, crossed over the road's double-yellow lines on a blind curve and ran head-on into opposing traffic, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

    A Pescadero woman and her teenage daughter were awoken early Monday morning by a mountain lion that entered their bedroom and snatched their family pet from the foot of their bed, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. The woman and her child were sleeping when she heard their small dog, a 15-pound Portuguese Pondengo, barking aggressively around 3 a.m. April 17. The suspected mountain lion entered through a set of French doors that had been left partially open to allow the dog access to the outdoors, according to the Sheriff's Office.
