    On August 30, 1945, a destructive storm of wind & hail struck Cass County at 8:30 p.m. This was part of an apparent complex of storms that dumped flooding, torrential rainfall in parts of the area in a short period of time. In regards to severe weather, in a 2-mile wide swath across Cass County, damage was extensive & heavy.

The Pharos-Tribune reports Logansport officials have approved placing signs in city park properties for the connecting route that extends to Peru.

    Schneider Electric notified the state last week of the most recent layoffs, which are set to take place starting March 16. The company cut about 70 jobs last year at a factory in the Miami County community of Peru as it sent some production to out-of-state factories. The Kokomo Tribune reports that before last year's layoffs started, the company reported it employed 465 workers.

    A three-vehicle crash in Miami County Tuesday morning has resulted in the death of a 12-year-old girl. According to police investigators, a semi driven by 62-year-old Scott Baker of Eaton was hauling scrap and headed eastbound on U.S. 24. As the semi approached the stoplight at the intersection, an SUV driven by 31-year-old Kristina Buffington of Peru was waiting at the intersection to turn southbound onto Broadway.
