Nevada County Public Works Director Steve Castleberry says bids for a pipeline from Penn Valley to the wastewater treatment plant in Penn Valley came up a million dollars short of the money they had available The previous funds were through the State Water Resources Control Board for five million dollars, with about one-point-24 million more coming from community block grants.

    A Penn Valley woman accused of embezzling thousands of dollars, while serving as president of a local school parents club, has received one felony conviction so far, but not in reference to that specific specific case. Nevada County District Attorney Cliff Newell says that follows a jury trial for Michele Huni that lasted less than a day on Wednesday Newell says Huni is scheduled to be sentenced on August 8th, with another jury trial still tentatively scheduled regarding the embezzlement case, on August 16th, unless a plea agreement can be worked out Huni had taken a plea agreement about a year ago, in return for a potential one-year jail sentence and five years probation.
