    The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has reopened the Pearl River Wildlife Management Area but three side roads, including Poboy Road, Oil Well Road and Indian Bayou Road, remain closed. The Pearl River WMA was closed March 13 when the flood gauge at the Pearl River reached 16.5 feet, initiating an automatic benchmark closure set by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission.

    A Pearl River man was arrested for the attempted murder of a police officer after he repeatedly punched and tried to run over a female St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's deputy on Thursday, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office. At about 1:20 p.m., the deputy was dispatched to 16th Section Road in the Pearl River area in reference to a suspicious person who was passed out in a car.

NWS officials add that the river will continue to rise and be near 21 feet by early Monday evening before it will begin to fall.

    The Pearl River Police Department is "strongly urging" residents to leave the Shingle Mill Road area by 3 p.m. today before severe flooding is expected to hit the area. Several other low lying areas, including Craddock Lane, Hwy 3081 by Craddock Lane, Nelson and Frierson Roads, Pine Street, Spur 41 at both bridges, possibly Banks Street, the 2nd & 3rd Pearl River Exits under the Over Pass, are also expected to flood and should be evacuated.
