U.S. EPA's massive study into the impacts of fracking on drinking water does not have enough data to support the blanket conclusion that the practice is not a "widespread, systemic" threat to the nation's water resources, a scientific review of the work has concluded. "The EPA did not support quantitatively its conclusion about lack of evidence for widespread, systemic impacts of hydraulic fracturing on drinking water resources," the agency's Science Advisory Board said in an Aug. 11 letter to Administrator Gina McCarthy.
