    It was Ride Across Indiana time on Saturday although you might not have noticed unless you were trying to get somewhere on U.S. 40 in that state during daylight. More than 1,800 riders decided to test their endurance by riding about 160 miles from Terre Haute to Richmond starting at 7 a.m. The best completed the distance in about nine hours.

    A couple of days ago, I posted the following on the Columbus Outdoor Pursuits Bicycling and Westerville Bicycle Club Facebook pages: "A black Corvette menaced our COP ride out of Pataskala this morning, on Blacks Road going east over Outville Road about 9:30 a.m. "The driver tailed us going east on Blacks Road, honking the horn and acting as if they were going to hit riders in the back before it passed our group of 13 riders. It tried to force the riders into the ditch by cutting back into the lane without warning or a signal.

    I got back on a bicycle for the first time since high school because I was challenged to participate in Pelotonia in 2012, and I managed to drag myself over the Bennington Chapel course to the 100-mile finish. I've kept riding, and although I keep setting goals for myself that I'm not sure I can meet, what really keeps me in the saddle are the sights and sounds of the areas I ride through and the people I ride with as I travel across central Ohio and elsewhere.
