    A Parkersburg man was sentenced to 12 and a half years in federal prison for a child pornography crime, announced Acting United States Attorney Carol Casto. Kevin Wayne Davis, 49, previously pleaded guilty to possessing over 600 images and videos of child pornography.

    A benefit for the humane societies in Parkersburg and Marietta will be held at the premiere of "The Secret Life of Pets" at 7 p.m. July 7 at the Odyssey Theatre at the Lafayette Plaza in Marietta. All tickets for the show are $10 and all the money raised will be evenly split between the Humane Society in Parkersburg and the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley in Marietta, said organizer Angie Harper of the sponsoring Winding Road Kennel in Parkersburg.

    The Parkersburg Utility Board on Wednesday approved a proposal to use more than $200,000 in excess contingency funds from the ongoing wastewater treatment plant upgrade. PUB Manager Eric Bennett recommended spending $256,340.60 to install new sluice gates in three lines where the utility's system goes through the floodwall and upgrade the radio equipment that relays data from outlying facilities back to the water and wastewater treatment plants.
