Kelli Baclich, 42, was sentenced Oct. 10, 2017, to complete a driving-under-the-influence program, a victim-impact panel and 50 hours of public service by Judge Douglas Henderson.

    Jean McLean Aldrich, 84, of Bradenton and formerly of Anna Maria, died Jan. 18. She was born July 4, 1933, in Palmetto, and was a descendant of pioneering families who settled there in the late 1870s and early 1880s. A graduate of Manatee County High School, she was employed at the Bank of Palmetto in the bookkeeping department, married William L. Aldrich and then started a family.

    Three men in a video that went viral last year depicting them dragging a shark behind a speeding boat near Egmont Key have pleaded not guilty to charges of animal cruelty. Robert Benac III, 28, of Sarasota, and Michael Wenzel, 21, and Spencer Heintz, 23, both of Palmetto, face two felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty to a blacktip shark.
