According to a report from the Pinellas County Sheriff's office, deputies responded to the fire at Kings Inn Motel, 34107 U.S. 19 N. about 3:12 p.m. The injured man, William Manning, a resident of the motel was in sleeping in a motel room at the time.

The East Lake Youth Sports Association, or ELYSA, will begin receiving property tax revenue from a new East Lake recreation tax levy Oct. 1, per a Pinellas County Board of Commissioners decision in June. Since then, PHCSA representatives have been working with ELYSA leaders to establish the parameters for the new governmental organization, which won't be run the same as its Palm Harbor equivalent.
