    After a month of uncertainty over contaminated soil, the Corning-Painted Post school district will begin the turf replacement project at Memorial Stadium Thursday. Despite a two-week delay in the start of construction, the field is expected to be ready by the start of fall sports in late August, and the Hawks' football and soccer teams won't lose any home games, C-PP Superintendent Mike Ginalski said.

    The highest court in New York, the Court of Appeals, has set a date for oral arguments in the Painted Post bulk water sales case. The seven-judge panel, led by Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, will hear arguments in the case on Oct. 13 in Albany, according to Rachel Treichler, a Hammondsport attorney and Sierra Club member who is assisting with the lawsuit.
